Auckland

The Auckland region is the predominant host for the Rugby World Cup 2011. It is usually the first port of call for visitors to New Zealand, and being the largest city, the Auckland region is hosting games at two different venues, Eden Park and North Harbour Stadium. Eden Park is the principal venue for this tournament as it is hosting the opening game and the semi finals and final.

A visitor to the Auckland region can go in any direction to find exciting activities. The Hauraki Gulf offers great day trips and opportunities to explore the harbour and many surrounding islands in the gulf. The busy CBD offers vibrant shopping, great food and a relaxed atmosphere.

There are many accommodation options available in Auckland, but get in early as indications are that capacity will be at a premium during the tournament. A central Auckland base will put you very close to Eden Park in Kingsland which is located not far from the city centre. Also check back regularly for the opportunity to become a Kingsland Eden Park local during the tournament, as many residents in vicinity of the stadium are renting out their houses during the tournament.

North Shore stadium is located in Albany, which is part of North Shore City, over the harbour bridge. As in Auckland City, many accommodation options are available there too.
