Whangarei
Whangarei is New Zealand’s northern most city and is part of the `winterless’ north where you are well and truly treated to a sub-tropical climate like no other New Zealand destination. The city itself is developing rapidly through the last few years with agriculture, arts, fishing, tourism and a small strong commercial arm making up the local economy.
The area is famous for its stunning beaches and idyllic countryside that are spread throughout the region. Northland also encapsulates a rich cultural heritage as many Maori first settled in the far north.
During the 2011 Rugby World Cup Whangarei’s Northland Events Centre are hosting pool games featuring Tonga, Canada and one other qualifier
